Pet Health and Safety Tips

We at PawPaws are passionate about pooches and care about the health of your pet. We have owned and cared for many pets over the last 30 years including many dogs and have gained much experience in pet safety and overall health.

We would like to take a few minutes of your time to share some important information with you concerning the health and safety of your pet. Check this page regularly for newly added information that may help you in caring for your pet's health and general well-being.

Over the last several years, we have heard numerous stories of how some pets were attacked by predatory animals, which inspired us to write the following article entitled "Pet or Prey" that appeared in the Dothan Eagle on June 9, 2005. We hope that this article will help alert pet owners to some of the possible dangers awaiting their pets and save some lives. Please feel free to copy and distribute this article to others you know that may need enlightening on the subject.

On a warm day, the temperature in a car can exceed 120° in a matter of minutes—even with the windows partially open. Your pet can quickly suffer brain damage or die from heatstroke or suffocation. Visit the following link for a great article on how to keep your pets safe in the heat.

Practically every week there are manufacturer recalls on various dog food and/or dog treats for Salmonella bacteria or other serious health risks to your pet. Visit the following link to view current recalls and to sign up for free email alerts for immediate notification. You will not get spammed but will ONLY receive alerts.

We hope that the previous information will prove useful for you in protecting your pet.
